Bad Aussee - in the centre of Austria
It is a deep-seated tradition that artists feel at ease here; go back in time and follow their traces along the Via Artis through the Ausseerland countryside.
Bad Aussee should not solely be seen as a summer retreat; spring and wintertime in the Aussee mountains are equally attractive. The year would not be complete without the Narcissus Festival in spring and the
autumn in Aussee is largely fog-free and ideal for hiking and trekking. Exploring Bad Aussee is a pastime for all seasons; enjoy a walk alongside the river Traun or through the Kurpark, where the salt miners once boiled the salt, or a stroll around the shops with their wide range of traditional and international products. Craftsmanship is alive in the Ausseerland - Salzkammergut region, unlike most other areas.
Or simply take things easy and sip a cup of coffee whilst sitting under a chestnut tree in one of the café gardens - seeing the occaisional prominent guest. Aussee is the centre of attraction for many.
Bad Aussee was elected as Alpenstadt 2010.
The"Alpine city of the year" is part of the Alps and thus is a part of this precious cultural and natural environment in the heart of europe. Being "Alpine city of the year" means having a responsibility for the upkeep and development of the cultural and natural heritage of the area .
